CE Marking

Expertise

Overview

CE Marking is more than a symbol—it's a declaration of conformity, safety, and market readiness. It indicates that a product complies with applicable EU directives and can legally be placed on the European market. While often seen as a regulatory hurdle, it is in fact a framework to ensure that products are safe, reliable, and interoperable within the European Economic Area (EEA). It applies to a wide range of products including industrial machinery, electrical equipment, electronic systems, control cabinets, and more.

Applicable Directives

Several directives may apply depending on the product type and intended use. The most relevant for our clients include:

  • Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) – Addresses essential health and safety requirements for machinery and partly completed machinery.

  • Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU) – Applies to electrical equipment within certain voltage ranges, ensuring user safety.

  • High Voltage (HV) Regulations – Although not part of CE, HV systems must often meet national or harmonized EU standards, especially in industrial environments.

  • EMC Directive (2014/30/EU) – Ensures electromagnetic compatibility so equipment does not interfere with or become affected by other devices.

Identifying which directives apply, and aligning with their respective requirements, is the first critical step in a successful CE compliance strategy.

Our Approach to Compliance

We don't just tick boxes—we structure the CE marking process to reduce risk, support product innovation, and accelerate time to market. Our team brings deep experience in:

  • Risk assessments following ISO 12100 and EN standards

  • Planning and executing test plans for functional safety, EMC, and electrical compliance

  • Creating technical documentation, including the Essential Health and Safety Requirements (EHSR) checklist and compliance matrix

From gap analysis to final Declaration of Conformity, we manage the process with precision.

Our Advantage: Engineering Meets Tool Expertise

Where we truly differentiate is in combining our engineering expertise with proficiency in industry tools such as Safexpert—a leading software platform for CE compliance management. We leverage Safexpert to:

  • Structure project workflows aligned with applicable directives

  • Manage and document risk assessments with traceability

Why It Matters

Neglecting proper CE planning can lead to delays, legal exposure, or even product withdrawal from the EU market. On the other hand, a well-executed CE process not only ensures compliance but can become a strategic enabler—supporting product acceptance, improving safety, and building customer confidence.

We help you get it right from the start—so your products don’t just meet the minimum, they lead by example.
